Heart rate variability (HRV) based daily readiness and custom HRV recordings.

Kubios HRV app utilizes scientifically validated algorithms for heart rate variability (HRV), which are widely recognized and utilized by researchers globally. The app offers valuable insights into your wellness and daily readiness. To conduct HRV measurements with Kubios HRV, you will require a Bluetooth heart rate (HR) sensor like the Polar H10. The app offers two distinct modes:

 Readiness Measurement Mode - This mode tracks variations in your daily readiness status. Through brief (1-5 min), controlled resting HRV measurements at regular intervals, you can obtain accurate information regarding your physiological recovery and stress levels on a daily basis. It also allows you to compare your HRV values against standard population values. This feature is widely employed by professional athletes for optimizing training, but it caters to sports enthusiasts and individuals concerned about their wellbeing, offering objective insights into overall bodily stress levels and cardiovascular health.

 Custom Measurement Mode - Specifically crafted for researchers, healthcare professionals, and sports scientists, this mode conducts a variety of HRV recordings. It enables test subject management, short- and long-term measurements, live data acquisition, and the use of event markers. The app incorporates Polar mobile SDK to fetch real-time data from Polar sensors like electrocardiogram (ECG) and heart beat interval (RR) data from Polar H10 sensors, as well as live photoplethysmogram (PPG) and inter-pulse interval (PPI) data from optical Polar OH1 and Verity Sense sensors. When paired with these Polar sensors, the custom measurement mode provides a user-friendly, cost-effective method to gather ECG, PPG, and RR/PPI recordings. For RR recording, the app also supports various Bluetooth HR sensors available in the market. A Kubios HRV software license is necessitated to retain measurement data when utilizing this measurement mode.

HRV serves as a dependable metric for assessing the autonomic nervous system (ANS). It monitors the beat-to-beat alterations in RR interval resulting from continual regulation of heart rate by the sympathetic and parasympathetic branches of the ANS. Kubios HRV analysis algorithms are considered the gold standard in scientific circles and are currently adopted by around 1200 universities spanning 128 countries. The key HRV parameters encompass indices for parasympathetic nervous system (PNS) and sympathetic nervous system (SNS), computed based on a comprehensive array of scientific findings to offer precise interpretations of recovery and stress.
